Fire victims receive cash aid

MAYOR Celso Lobregat released Wednesday P148,000 as financial assistance to 36 families whose houses were burned in fire incidents last month in different villages in Zamboanga City.
Those whose houses were destroyed by the fire received P5,000 each, while those who houses were damaged received P3,000 each.
Records from the City Social Welfare and Development Office showed that on March 1, a fire broke out at Solis Drive, Saavedra Extension in Sta. Maria village. A house was destroyed in this incident, while two others were damaged.
On March 13, another fire incident occurred, this time at Sun Street in Tumaga village, razing a house to the ground and damaging another.

Two more houses, one destroyed and the other damaged, were hit by fire in Pasonanca village on March 21.
Two days later, a fire reduced 17 houses to ashes and damaged 12 other houses in the coastal village of Rio Hondo.
No one was reported injured during the fire incidents, which all happened in March, declared as a Fire Prevention Month.
Assisting Lobregat in the cash distribution held at the City Hall conference room Wednesday were City Social Welfare and Development Officer (CSWDO) Francisco Barredo, Evelyn Las Marias of the CSWDO, and staff. (Bong Garcia)
