BIR builds revenue generation campaign-A A +A
Saturday, May 26, 2012
THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is strengthening its revenue generation campaign to boost its tax collection in this city, a BIR official announced.
For the month of April 2012, BIR fell short by 2.77 percent in its revenue collection.
Assistant Revenue District Officer Rolando Ompoc disclosed that their collection last month was P196 million, lower by P5.5 million from its P201 million target.
Ompoc said they registered a collection shortfall in April despite the bulk of payments from Income Tax Returns (ITR) since the target collection goal is “very high.”
Aside from the ITR, the sources of revenues of BIR in this city include transfer taxes, government projects, and several business taxes.
Ompoc said they will intensify and conduct strict monitoring on the compliance of all withholding taxes including government and private to be able to meet this year’s target collection goal of P1.8 billion.
This year’s P1.8 billion target collection goal is higher by P200 million compared to last year’s target collection goal of P1.6 billion.
Ompoc said they will also conduct tax compliance verification drive and their regular tax mapping and tax information drive in this city. (Bong Garcia)
