Fire destroys P40-M properties

SOME P40 million worth of properties were destroyed when a blaze hit a commercial complex in Jolo, Sulu Thursday night, a police official said Friday.
Senior Superintendent Antonio Freyra, Sulu provincial police director, said the fire broke out around 9 p.m. Thursday at General Arolas Street in downtown Jolo.
The fire razed a commercial complex with 320 stalls of textile and other clothing materials, shoes and other dry goods as well as pawnshops, Freyra said.
The fire started at one of the stalls along General Arolas Street and spread toward Moralla Street.
The firefighters extinguished the fire around 1 a.m. Friday, Freyra added.
