THE local government has turned over pick-up type vehicles to 15 villages as part of its intensified Community, Environment, Livelihood, Security and Order program in Zamboanga City.
Mayor Celso Lobregat led the turnover of the vehicles held in front of City Hall on Friday to the 15 recipient villages.
The recipient villages are Bolong, Bunguiao, Cabaluay, Cacao, Calabasa, Guisao, Latuan, Lumbangan, Mercedes, Quiniput, Talabaan, Talon-Talon, Tugbungan, Victoria and Zambowood.
The distribution of vehicles on Friday brought to a total of 29 mainland villages to have received such type of vehicles from the City Government.
The City Government has started the distribution of the four-by-four pick-up type vehicles since April this year.
The mayor, in his message, advised the officials of the recipient villages to take care of the vehicles and use them for the community, protection of the environment, livelihood for the people, maintenance of security and order in the village.
Lobregat said that all 90 villages in the mainland will receive the pick-up type vehicles while the eight island villages will receive a multicab and a motorized banca (boat) each in a bid to hasten mobility and ultimately accelerate public service.
Each pick-up type vehicles costs the city government P997,500 while the multicab and pumpboat cost P290,000 and P150,000 each, respectively.
The funds for the purchase of the transportation facilities are taken from the 2011 and 2012 budgets of the City Government. (Bong Garcia)
