ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The historical Plaza Pershing teemed with people and activities on Tuesday as the City Health Office spearheaded activities in celebration of the Nutrition Month.
A nutri-vegetable trade fair highlighted the opening of the nutri-month celebration. The fair, which will run until tomorrow, Thursday, showcases vegetable products and other merchandise goods produced by members of the City Nutrition Committee.
Mayor Celso Lobregat and and City Health Officer Dr. Rodelin Agbulos in their individual messages during the opening program said the celebration’s theme “Pagkain ng gulay ugaliin, araw-araw itong ihain” aptly urges the public to increase vegetable consumption to help counter micronutrient deficiencies and prevent diseases.
“My administration commits to doing everything we can to deliver health services to our people, but as I always say the success of any government program depends on the cooperation and participation of the people,” Lobregat said.
The Nutrition Month celebration is a nationwide event and is now on its 38th year. (Bong Garcia)
