Nutri-vegetable fair reels off-A A +A

ZAMBOANGA City joins the entire nation in the observance of Nutrition month this July with the launching of a nutri-vegetable fair as the highlighting activity during its kick off program on Tuesday.
Mayor Celso Lobregat together with City Health Officer Dr. Rodel Agbulos and other health officials will spearhead the activity that start with a motorcade at 8 a.m. followed by the opening program at 9 a.m. at the historical Plaza Pershing.
The nutri-vegetable trade fair will be held from Tuesday until Thursday at the Plaza Pershing and will be participated in by members of the City Nutrition Committee.
The opening program will also be highlighted by the presentation of candidates for the Search of Queen of Nutrition 2012.
Agbulos said that six candidates have been selected to represented six sectors namely education, health, social welfare, medical, agriculture/ veterinary and La Liga ng mga Barangay.
Now on its 38th year, the celebration of Nutrition Month this year focuses on the importance of vegetables with the theme “Pagkain ng gulay ugaliin, araw-araw itong ihain.”
Agbulos said the celebration intends to increase vegetable consumption as part of a healthy diet to address micronutrient deficiencies and non-communicable diseases.
Top government officials, members of the City Nutrition committee, health workers, barangay nutrition scholars and barangay health workers, students and faculty of Nursing Schools and other guests are expected to attend the event. (Bong Garcia)
