AN OLD man died after he was accidentally bumped and ran over by two motorcycles one after the other in an east coast village of Zamboanga City, the police said.
The incident happened Thursday afternoon along the highway in the village of Culianan, the Police Station 4 reported.
The police identified the fatality as Rolando Mendoza, 73, who didn’t reach the hospital alive.
The drivers of the two motorcycles, one of them is a Marine soldier, were also injured as they too crashed on the pavement.
Wounded were Sergeant Leo Gonzalez, a Marine soldier, and Jonas Limen, according to the police.
Investigation showed that Mendoza, who was driving a bicycle, was accidentally bumped by a motorcycle driven by Gonzales after he had just come out of Nazareth Drive in Culianan village and crossed the highway going to the other lane heading west.
Mendoza fell from his bicycle while Gonzalez crashed on the pavement as a result of the impact, the police said, adding that another motorcycle driven by Limen heading east ran over Mendoza who was lying on the pavement.
Limen was thrown away after his motorcycle rammed the left side of a passenger jeep which was also heading east, the police said.
Gonzales and Limen sustained minor injuries and were rushed to the hospital.
