THE police have arrested six public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 in an east coast village of Zamboanga City, an official said.
Superintendent William Gadayan, Zamboanga City Public Safety Company commander, said the drivers were arrested while having a pot session on Thursday in the village of Sta. Catalina, east of the city.
Gadayan identified them as Arasad Jumaide, 44, Roland Falcasantos, 37, Joebert Buscas, 27, Raul Candido, 32, Leopoldo Falcasantos, 37, and Melvin Constantino, 37.
Gadayan said his personnel led by Senior Inspector Jade Mandi were conducting an anti-gambling operation when they chanced upon the drivers having a pot session in a small shanty.
Confiscated from their possession were two small sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia, said Gadayan.
They were taken to the 9th PNP Crime Laboratory for drug test and were later detained while appropriate charges are readied against them, Gadayan said. (Bong Garcia)
