A WIFE of a businessman was shot and killed while her husband was unscathed as motorcycle-riding-in-tandem gunmen struck again in Zamboanga City, a police official said Tuesday.
Police Station 6 commander Chief Inspector Elmer Acuña said the incident took place around 7:45 p.m. Monday at Marquez Drive in the village of Tetuan, east of the city.
Acuña identified the fatality as Patricia Gumenez-Tan, who was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctor at the hospital.
Tan’s husband, Johnny, was unscathed since the suspects fled and did not harm him, Acuña said.
Investigation showed the victims were on the way home aboard the family-owned vehicle when the motorcycle-riding-in-tandem suspects sidled up and grabbed the bag of Tan, which contains undetermined amount of money.
One of the three men riding tandem on the motorcycle pulled a handgun and shot Tan when she resisted the suspects, he said.
The couple runs an eatery with “Satti” as their specialty along Pilar Street in downtown Zamboanga City.
Acuña said the motive of the incident was holdup.
Meanwhile, police have placed under investigation three people riding-in-tandem on a motorcycle that were arrested four hours later in a follow-up operation, Acuña said.
