A FORMER assemblyman in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm) and his lady companion who were arrested in a raid were subjected to inquest proceedings before the City Prosecutor’s office in Zamboanga City.
Former Armm assemblyman Nahil Maldiza and Sarah Rodriquez of Koronadal City were arrested for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
The Court issued a warrant of arrest against Maldiza last July 13 after he was implicated in the kidnapping of and slay attempt on two police assets.
The four suspects who kidnapped the police assets implicated the ex-Armm lawmaker as the alleged mastermind.
The police, armed with a warrant of arrest, raided a resort in Zambowood village, east of the city on Saturday, resulting in the arrest of Maldiza and Rodriguez.
The police said Maldiza was committed to the Zamboanga City Reformatory Center as he is facing charges for kidnapping and serious illegal detention with no bail recommended, while Rodriguez was detained at the police headquarters detention cell.
