ZAMBOANGA CITY – An Abu Sayyaf bandit identified as Isnajir Sakkam alias Abu Fatima was arrested on Friday near the waterfront market of Zamboanga City, the police said.
Combined police and military operatives have arrested the suspect based on the warrant of arrest for kidnapping with serious illegal detention after his alleged participation in the atrocities committed by the Abu Sayyaf bandits, the police said.
Sakkam was allegedly involved when the Abu Sayyaf bandits raided the Golden Harvest Plantation in Barangay Tairan, Lantawan town, Basilan province on June 11, 2011.
During that raid, the Abu Sayyaf bandits took 15 plantation workers as hostages and killed two of them while the rest have either escaped or have been released.
Sakkam was arrested after the police received information from members of the Community Investigative Support (CIS).
The CIS consists of professionals and non-professionals who share their expertise in the investigation and solution of crimes handled by the Criminal and Investigation Detection Group. (Bong Garcia)
