THE Movement for Sustainable Good Governance (MSGG) in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm) on Sunday adopted and passed a manifesto endorsing Sulu Governor Abdusakur Tan to run as governor in the Armm in next year’s election.
Dr. Amildasa Annil, one of the covenors and member of the MSGG, said the manifesto will be forwarded to the Regional Legislative Assembly of Armm “for record purposes” and to President Benigno Simeon Aquino III.
“We will ask the President to anoint Governor Tan as the administration’s candidate in next year’s election in Armm,” Annil said Sunday.
Ustadz Noreen Pallong said the nomination of Tan was based on the latter’s accomplishments as governor of the province of Sulu.
Pallong said the development that is mushrooming in Sulu and initiated by Tan is an exemplar and can be replication in the Armm as a whole.
“Whereas, we evaluated and assessed situations obtaining in each component provinces of the Armm, and in particular find merits in the performance of the LGU (local government unit) of Sulu in appreciation of the fact that it’s not an easy undertaking to develop a province that has gone through decades of war, feuds and clashes,” the MSGG stated in their manifesto.
“Whereas, despite the delicate condition of the peace and order situation in Sulu, Governor Abdusakur M. Tan, which dogged resolve and determination was able to weather the hindrances and continued to put in place development which he firmly believes to be a more viable alternative as compared to a show of military might,” the MSGG added.
The manifesto was approved on Sunday by the more than 200 participants in attendance to the MSGG during the first summit of all Civil Society Organization within Zamboanga, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
