MAYOR Celso Lobregat has declared September 9-12 this year as the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) Week in Zamboanga City, enjoining residents to extend a warmest welcome to the PCL delegates.
The declaration contained in Executive Order No. CL-472-2012 dated September 5, 2012 also enjoins the business community in the city “to join the significant occasion by giving discounts and/or promotional materials to the delegates patronizing their establishments.”
The city of Zamboanga will host the PCL 3rd Quarterly National Executive Officers and National Board Meeting as well as the Continuing Local Legislative Education Program (CLLEP) from September 9-12.
Lobregat last week led a coordinative meeting to finalize preparations for the big event.
The ground work started as early as last May when PCL President Councilor Alma Moreno of Paranaque City and other PCL officials came to this city.
The PCL is an organization composed of all elected, appointed and ex-officio members of legislative councils in cities and municipalities in the country.
The group is duly accredited by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) as a local government association in 1990.
Lobregat, in his executive order said the PCL, as a local government association with a large constituency, “continues to evolve as a dynamic and vibrant organization of local legislators and is always at the forefront of contemporary and emerging trends in the local administration and development to help improve the quality of life of the Filipino people through effective local legislation.”
“In celebration of the Philippine Councilors League Week, I hereby enjoin the people of Zamboanga to extend our warmest welcome to all delegates of the PCL; and also enjoin the business community to join this significant occasion by giving discounts and/or promotional materials to the PCL delegates patronizing their establishments during their stay in our beloved City,” Lobregat said.
