OVERSEAS Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa) Regional Director Hassan Jumdain announced that they are now accepting nominations for the 2012 Model OFW Family Awards (MOFYA).
“We are again in search of land-based and sea-based Model OFW Families,” Jumdain said citing the MOFYA is now on its eighth year.
Jumdain said the search is aimed to highlight the success of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families in overcoming the challenges of migration.
Jumdain said the winners in the regional level will represent the region in the national MOFYA search.
The family must be headed by an OFW, formerly or presently working abroad to qualify for the MOFYA, Jumdain said.
The criteria for selection are as follows: wholesome OFW family, 50 percent; civic/community involvement of OFW, 20 percent; success in children’s or family member/s education, 20 percent; and success in managing family finances, 10 percent.
Jumdain urges religious groups, community-based socio-civic organizations, OFW non-government organizations, peoples’ organizations, and local government units to submit their nominations at the OWWA Office at 4th floor of BGIDC Corporate Center, Governor Lim Avenue, Zamboanga City. (Bong Garcia)
