A STAY-IN security guard moonlighting as habal-habal driver was shot to death and robbed by his own passengers in an east coast village in Zamboanga City.
The Police Station 5 said the incident took place around 5:30 a.m. Thursday at Purok 7, Sitio Asinan, Boalan village, eight kilometers east of the city.
The victim was identified as Guillermo Imorecha, 28, a native of Tubod, Lakewood, Zamboanga del Sur and temporarily residing in Pasonanca village, seven kilometers north of the city, the police said.
Imorecha, who was married with two children, is a stay-in security guard at a warehouse in Pasonanca village and drives habal-habal to augment his income to feed his family.
The police learned that the victim was among the habal-habal drivers who fetch passengers from the bus terminal in Barangay Guiwan.
Investigation showed the victim was hired by two people to fetch them to the village of Mercedes, 14 kilometers east of the city, from the bus terminal, the police said.
However, upon reaching the village of Boalan, the victim was shot by one of the two suspects who carted away the victim's motorcycle and wallet including crash helmet, the police added.
Investigation continues to unmask the suspects, the police said. (Bong Garcia)
