THE local government has allocated P20.5 million for the installation of closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) in strategic areas in Zamboanga City.
City Administrator Antonio Orendain Jr. said that 85 CCTVs are currently being installed in strategic parts of the city.
He said the CCTVs were first installed in public and worship places like Plaza Pershing, Paseo del Mar, and shrine of Our Lady of the Pillar also known as Fort Pilar.
He added that CCTVs were already installed at the headquarters of the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO), Zamboanga City Reformatory Center (ZCRC) and in major intersections of the city.
The control center of the CCTVs will be at the City Tourism Office at the Sunken Garden, except for the ZCPO and ZCRC, which have their own control centers.
Initially, Orendain said at least 10 personnel will be trained to man the control centers.
He said the CCTVs will be operational starting next month.
He said the installation of the CCTVs will be helpful in solving crimes, as it will help enforce security in the city.
The CCTVs are installed by the personnel of the ITSmart System Solution Inc.
