THE Department of Science and Technology-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) is conducting a regional dissemination forum on the results of the “2011 Survey on the Updating of the Nutritional Status of Selected Filipinos” in Zamboanga City.
DOST Regional Director Brenda Nazareth-Manzano said the forum is scheduled on Friday, September 28.
Manzano said the forum is aimed to update key stakeholders in the government and private sectors involved in food, nutrition, and health programs on the survey results.
The DOST hoped that the survey results could be used to recommend possible action agenda in the local policy-making and program planning, Manzano said.
She said the FNRI will also make a presentation on the “High Impact Technology Solutions (HITS) relevant to the nutritional status of Filipino children” aside from the highlights of the survey.
The forum will be attended by members of the Regional Development Council Zamboanga peninsula (RDC), Provincial Nutrition Action Officers (PNAO), representatives of non-government organizations (NGOs), and media and information officers.
The FNRI is one of the research and development institutes (RDIs) of the DOST.
The institute is mandated to: conduct research that defines the citizen’s nutritional status, with reference particularly to the malnutrition problem, its causes and effects and identify alternative solutions to them; develop and recommend policy actions, strategies, programs and projects addressing the malnutrition problem for implementation by the appropriate agencies; and, disseminate research findings and recommendations to the relevant end-users.
