THE new United States Deputy Chief of Mission Brian Goldbeck is scheduled to visit Zamboanga City and Basilan province this week to learn more about the U.S.-Philippine partnership and U.S. Government-supported projects in the two places.
Goldbeck, who is a career member of the State Department’s Senior Foreign Service, arrived in Manila last August 16 to assume the duties of Deputy Chief of Mission for the U.S. Embassy in Manila.
Previously, Goldbeck served as U.S. Consul General in Guangzhou, China from 2009 to 2012, according to the U.S. Embassy.
The U.S. Embassy in a statement Tuesday said that Goldbeck and Mayor Celso Lobregat will lead U.S. and local government officials to inaugurate a suspension footbridge project on Friday, September 28, in Sitio Murok, Barangay Pasonanca, north of this city.
It said that the footbridge project will benefit approximately 6,000 residents in Sitio Murok, Barangay Pasonanca and from nearby areas.
The construction of the footbridge was funded by the U.S. government and was completed last month.
The footbridge provides safe pedestrian passage and timely transport of people, products and services to all corners of Zamboanga City.
