ZAMBOANGA City continues to sizzle on Tuesday, the 9th day of the Fiesta Hermosa celebration, as the City Government presents Servicio Medical, a free clinic at the Plaza Pilar from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
City health officer Rodelin Agbulos said the medical outreach program, an annual event during Fiesta Hermosa, hopes to serve as much as 600 people, as a show of gratitude, love and devotion to Nuestra Señora La Virgen del Pilar, the city’s patron saint.
“This year, we will be holding Servicio Medical at the Plaza Pilar to bring the services nearer to La Virgen, as this is dedicated to her,” Agbulos said, adding the venue will also be accessible to people who pay homage to the Lady of the Pillar.
The City Government has tapped private medical practitioners who will conduct specialty clinics on pediatrics, optha/ENT, rheumatology, gynecology, minor surgery for cyst removal, diabetes screening and consultation, pulmonology, cardiology, dermatology, general consultation, dental services and surgical evaluation.
Other services will include cholesterol screening, urine screen test, feeding for street kids (courtesy of the Rotary Club of Zamboanga), blood typing and free reading eye glasses for indigent patients (courtesy of the Zamboanga City Optical).
Due to the expected huge number of people who will avail of the medical services, Agbulos urged those interested to register an hour before the start of the program at 8 a.m. (Bong Garcia)
