A FISH trader was found dead floating at sea with multiple gunshot wounds on Monday two days after he failed to arrive home in an island village east of Zamboanga City.
Chief Inspector Nonito Asdai, chief of the Community Police Action Center (Compac) in Sacol Island, identified the victim as Andik Latip, 45, a resident of Manalipa, 25 kilometers east of mainland Zamboanga City.
Asdai said Latip's body was found floating on Monday morning off Landang Gua, an island village 34 kilometers east of this city.
Investigation showed that the victim on Saturday left mainland Zamboanga City via the village of Arena Blanco, nine kilometers east of this city, aboard a motorized banca, Asdai said.
He said the victim failed to arrive home prompting his relatives to report to the policemen at the Compac in Sacol Island, which has jurisdiction over the island villages east of the city.
The victim's motorized banca was found with bullet holes and without engine on Sunday in the vicinity of Linungan Island and Bato village, Lamitan City, Basilan Province.
