MAYOR Celso Lobregat issued on Tuesday two executive orders to ensure the peace and orderly observance of the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day in Zamboanga City.
One of the orders promulgates the rules and regulations for strict compliance and the other, promulgating a traffic rerouting scheme during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
The two executive orders will take effect midnight of November 1 until 5 p.m. of November 2.
The mayor issued the two executive orders as he convened the police, military and other stakeholders to finalize measures to ensure a peaceful and orderly observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days on November 1 and 2, respectively.
One policy that will be strictly implemented in all cemeteries is the establishment of business stalls, which are supposed to be not less than 20 meters away from the cemetery entrance or gate, Lobregat said.
The police have ensured a maximum deployment of police and visibility patrols in cemeteries, memorial parks, including commercial centers and other places of convergence during the two holidays, he said.
A total of 35 public and private cemeteries from the village of Vitali to village of Labuan will be the concentration of the police and military authorities.
Traffic rerouting schemes have been mapped out for implementation in the said areas.
Meanwhile, the City Health Office will deploy health emergency response units in at least nine major cemeteries on November 1 to attend to possible health problems that may be encountered by people visiting their departed loved ones.
A total of 106 personnel to include 16 physicians, 72 district personnel and 30 ambulance personnel will be deployed, Agbulos said. (Bong Garcia)
