THE police have arrested a suspected motorcycle thief in a remote village east of Zamboanga City, Police Station 1 commander Joel Tuttuh reported.
Senior Inspector Tuttuh identified the arrested suspect as Jeonalfrey Maningo, a resident of Tictapul village.
Tuttuh said Maningo was arrested in possession of a stolen motorcycle around 8 a.m. Monday in Barangay Licomo.
An unlicensed caliber .38 revolver with four live ammunition was also confiscated from Mangingo’s possession, Tuttuh added.
Police Station 1 personnel were conducting security patrol when they chanced upon the suspect along the highway driving a motorcycle.
The patrolling policemen ordered Maningo to stop for inspection after they noticed the suspect was trying to evade them, Tuttuh said.
Upon inspection, Tuttuh said, Maningo was found to be driving a stolen motorcycle and in possession of unlicensed gun.
The motorcycle is owned by Erwin Francisco, who reported to the police station two month ago that his motorcycle was stolen in the village of Vitali.
Cases of illegal possession of firearms and carnapping will be filed against the suspect, who is now detained at the Police Station 1 headquarters.
