AUTHORITIES have tightened security in the province of Zamboanga del Sur following an explosion near a military detachment.
Zamboanga del Sur police director Senior Superintendent William Manzan said the incident happened around 6 a.m. Tuesday in the village of Dipili, Bayog town.
Manzan, however, said no one was either killed or wounded in the explosion of an improvised bomb fashioned as a landmine near a military detachment.
The explosion took place while Manzan and his personnel along with military troops passed the place on a convoy.
Manzan said they were on the way to the nearby village of Depore to assist the Mines and Geosciences Bureau personnel implement the Cease and Desist Order against illegal miners.
Investigation continues to identify the culprits behind the explosion, Manzan said.
