Inspection on LPG, gasoline dealers set

THE Department of Energy (DOE) in coordination with other concerned government agencies is set to inspect all liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and gasoline dealers in the province of Zamboanga del Norte.
DOE-Mindanao Field Office head Nilo Geroche said the inspection will be conducted amid reports and complaints on violations committed by unscrupulous LPG and gasoline dealers in the province.
The other agencies who will join the DOE in the conduct of the inspection are the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), police, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Treasurer’s Office and Licensing Division of the province’ different local government units (LGUs), Geroche said.
The other agencies that will join the DOE in the conduct of the inspection will carry out their respective tasks, Geroche said.
The tasks are the following: product quality, DTI; compliance with the fire safety standards, BFP; and; establishment’s business permits and its compliance with local ordinances concerning its business operation, LGUs.
Geroche said the inspection is to assess the compliance of the LPG and gasoline dealers in the province of Zamboanga del Norte on the requirements set by the DOE.
There will be an extensive information and education campaign to be held after the conduct of the inspection, he said.
The campaign is aimed to protect the consumers from unscrupulous practice of illegal traders, he added. (Bong Garcia)
