THE police have shot and killed a 35-year-old man, who killed his blind father and injured two others, including his mother, for resisting arrest in an east coast village in Zamboanga City.
Police Station 1 commander Senior Inspector Joel Tuttuh said the incident took place around 7 a.m. Sunday in the village of Tumitus, 82 kilometers east of Zamboanga City.
The fatalities were identified as Josalim Aijihil and his father, Dammang, 53, Tuttuh said.
Wounded were Umura, 48, Aijihil’s mother, and Muktar Hassan, a village watchman, Tuttuh said.
Investigation showed that Aijihil, who is allegedly suffering from mental illness, hacked his father to death and then his mother, he said.
Although wounded, the mother managed to escape and seek help from their neighbors, who in turn reported to the Police Station 1, he said.
Hassan was wounded after a bolo, thrown by Aijihil, hit him while he and other village watchmen tried to pacify and arrest the attacker (Aijihil), he said.
Aijihil was shot and killed after he resisted and attacked one of the responding policemen who also rushed to the crime scene, Tuttuh said. (Bong Garcia)
