Zambo will have more conditional cash transfer beneficiaries

THE Zamboanga Peninsula will have an additional 40,993 beneficiaries for the government’s Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT), also known as the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

Zamboanga Peninsula comprises of the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay and the cities of Dapitan, Dipolog, Isabela, Pagadian and Zamboanga.

DSWD 4Ps Regional Project Coordinator Emelita Acedo said the registration for the new beneficiaries has started last month.

Acedo said Zamboanga City will have the highest number of new 4Ps beneficiaries with 17,091, said Acedo.

The rest of the beneficiaries will be as follows: Zamboanga del Norte, 8,833; Zamboanga del Sur, 8,508; Zamboanga Sibugay, 3,909; and Isabela City, 2,652.

The new 4Ps beneficiaries are set to receive their benefits starting January of 2013, Acedo said.

Each of the beneficiaries will received more or less P1,000 monthly through Automated Teller Machine (ATM) or over the counter in the nearest Land Bank of Philippines (LBP) depending on the number of children below 14 years old.

However, the beneficiaries must comply with the requirements set by the government.

The requirements are: the children must go to school; the health of the family must be well taken cared off; the children must have complete immunization; and, pregnant mothers must have their prenatal check up.

The DSWD is strictly conducting monitoring to ensure compliance by the beneficiaries and those who failed to comply will be delisted.

The 4Ps is a human development program of the National Government implemented through the Department of Social Welfare and Development that invests in the health and education of poor households, particularly of children aged 0-14 years old. (Bong Garcia)
