MAYOR Celso Lobregat led on Tuesday the unveiling of the newly rehabilitated, improved, expanded and beautified Lying-in Center worth P4.8 million in Barangay Vitali, 73 kilometers east of Zamboanga City.
Lobregat said the newly rehabilitated Vitali Lying-in Center, which costs the City Government a total amount of P4,868,104.31, will also serve the health care needs of people from outlying village of Mangusu, Sibulao, Limaong, Tigbalabag, Licomo, Tictapul and Tagasilay under Vitali District, including those from nearby municipality of R.T. Lim, Zamboanga Sibugay.
Lobregat said the facility was constructed during the incumbency of her mother, the late Mayor Maria Clara Lobregat.
“Today, it has been expanded and beautified with complete medical equipment and wards preparatory to becoming a primary hospital,” he said.
The Vitali Lying-in Center is manned by three doctors and a number of nurses and midwives headed by Dr. Wilbur Natividad.
By coincidence, a young woman was on labor for her second child at the center while the inauguration program was in progress.
Shortly after the unveiling, the baby boy was born and was named John Mark Celso de Jesus.
Lobregat was joined in unveiling the Lying-in Center by House Deputy Speaker and first district Representative Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar and Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde.
The unveiling ceremony was witnessed by other local government officials and members of the academe. (Bong Garcia)
