A SECURITY guard ended up in jail after his service firearm accidentally went off, hitting a teenager, while he was pacifying a melee in one of the private cemeteries in Zamboanga City.

The Police Station 7 reported that the incident took place around 4:20 a.m. Friday in a private cemetery in Barangay Tumaga, 4.3 kilometers northwest of the city.

Detained at the headquarters of the Police Station 7 was Rommel Bigara, 32, the police said.

Investigation revealed that Bigara's service firearm, a .38 caliber revolver, accidentally went off, hitting the left leg of Wilfredo Solis, 18.

The police added that three unidentified teenagers mauled Solis when he just stepped out of the cemetery's main gate on his way home, prompting Bigara to pacify.

The three mauling suspects fled after Bigara's service firearm went off, the police said. (Bong Garcia)
