FOURTEEN families whose houses went up in smoke in a fire incident last October in the village of Mampang, nine kilometers east of this city, received on Friday financial assistance from the City Government.

The City Government allocated and released the amount of P54,000 as financial assistance to 14 family who were affected by the incident.

Six of the 14 affected families received P5,000 each as their houses were destroyed by the fire, while seven others, considered as houses sharers, received P3,000 each, so did one family, whose house was damaged.

Mayor Celso Lobregat, in distributing the cash assistance, explained to the beneficiaries that the amount was too small to compensate the properties they lost to the fire but it is something at least to start on. (Bong Garcia)
