A TASK group was formed by the local government to inspect and demolish all illegal structures along the highways and roads right-of-way in this Zamboanga City, according to Mayor Celso Lobregat.
Lobregat said District Engineer Merham Acas, of the Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH), was designated to head the task group.
He said the task group was created in response to a request from the DPWH to assist them in clearing all obstructions in highways and roads right of way.
The members of the task group include personnel from the City Mayor’s Office, City Administrator’s Office, City Engineer’s Office and the Zamboanga City Police Office, he said.
The mayor said the task group started on Monday inspecting the highways, both in this city’s east and west coasts.
Lobregat added that the owners of structures will be given notices to voluntarily clear the highways with a week’s time to 10 days after which the task group will demolish the structures. (Bong Garcia)
