Zamboangueño athletes receive cash incentives

TEN Zamboangueño athletes, who reaped medals from the recently-concluded 7th Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines-East Asean Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Friendship Games, have received a total of P440,000 cash incentives from the City Government.
The awardees have excelled in the pencak silat event harvesting three gold medals, six silver medals, and one bronze medal.
The three gold medalists received P60,000 each while the six silver medalists were awarded P40,000 each and P20,000 for the lone bronze medalist.
They are: Abdulgani Ishmael, Alshamer Ibnohasim and Nohman Ladjamatli, gold medalists; Albasher Ibnohasim, Suharto Asdal, Mutmanna Asmad, April Joy Alarcon, Lhea Garde and Joselle Truza, silver medalists; and, Beberly Mahusay, bronze medalist.
The cash incentive was handed over to the medalists on Wednesday afternoon by Mayor Celso Lobregat at the conference room of City Hall.
The City Government had been giving cash incentive to Zamboangueño athletes who excelled in national and international competitions for bringing honor to Zamboanga City.
The giving of cash incentive is aimed to encourage the athletes to show their best in their respective field of sports.
The BIMP-EAGA games were held from December 7 to 10, 2012 in General Santos City.
The four-day games, aimed to promote friendship, were participated by the athletes from the four member countries of BIMP-EAGA. (Bong Garcia/Sunnex)
