Political candidate killed

A BUSINESSMAN-CANDIDATE for councilor was shot and killed by a lone gunman in a remote village in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported.
The Zamboanga del Norte police command identified the fatality as Christopher Sacay, 36, a businessman, who died on the spot with bullet wounds in the head and body.
The police said that Sacay was killed after he was shot at close range with a caliber .45 pistol by the lone gunman around 7:20 p.m. of Thursday in the village of Nala, Sibuco municipality.
Sacay was tending his general merchandise store when the suspect arrived and without any provocation shot the victim and fled, the police said.
A thorough investigation is being conducted to unmask the suspect as well as establish the motive of the incident, the police said. (Bong Garcia)
