THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has surpassed by 2.40 percent, representing an increase of P44,250,166, in its actual collection for 2012, compared to its target collection goal in Zamboanga City.
Merlyn Vicente, head of BIR's Revenue District Office 93-A, said this came about as her office has collected P1,888,435,166.76, which is higher by P44,250,166 compared to the target collection goal of P1,844,185,000.
Vicente said the contributory factor why they managed to surpass their target collection is the strict monitoring of compliance on the part of the local taxpayers.
The collections were generated from Income Tax Returns, business taxes, transfer taxes, and government projects, according to Vicente.
She said they will continue the implementation of the existing programs, like monitoring and evaluation of taxpayer's compliance on the payment of income tax, withholding tax and Value Added Tax.
She said the monitoring and evaluation is aimed to ensure that the agency will meet its target collection goal in Zamboanga City. (Bong Garcia)
