TWO farmer associations that are into corn and rice farming got a boost in terms of post-harvest production from second district Representative Erico Basilio Fabian.
Fabian has given each of the farmer associations portable rice and corn millers aimed to help them increase production.
The recipients of the portable millers distributed by Fabian were the San Isidro Farmer Association of Manicahan village, and the Gawad Kalinga Irrigators Association of Buenavista village. The two villages were all located in Zamboanga City’s east coast.
Aside from increasing production, Fabian said the distribution of the portable millers will also help the farmers lessen their expenses for milling.
"They can now mill their produce at the farm site since the portable miller machines can be brought from one farm to the other," he said.
"Unlike before, they have to spend for transportation from the farm to the milling site," he added.
The purchase of the portable millers was realized as Fabian allocated funds from his Priority Development Assistance Fund.
The farmer-beneficiary groups were identified by the City Agriculture Office. (Bong Garcia)
