A DISC jockey was arrested for illegal possession of firearms and violation of the election gun ban, the police said Thursday.
Zamboanga Peninsula police spokesman Superintendent Nelson Eucogco said the disc jockey was arrested around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at a mobile checkpoint in the village of Polo, Dapitan City.
Eucogco identified the DJ as Roy Villar, 38, who is employed at one of the FM-stations in Dipolog City, the capital of Zamboanga del Norte province.
Confiscated from Villar's possession was a caliber .45 pistol with nine rounds of ammunition, said Eucogco.
Villar failed to present pertinent documents like firearms license and permit to carry as well as gun ban exemption from the Commission on Elections. (Bong Garcia)
