REPRESENTATIVE Erico Basilio Fabian has released a total of P1.8 million scholarship funds to poor and deserving students in Zamboanga City's second district.

Commission on Higher Education (Ched) Scholarship Coordinator Vivian Rubares said the scholarship fund was released on Friday to the 360 student-beneficiaries.

Each of the 360 students received each P5,000 in check for their matriculation fees, Rubares said.

Rubares along with Rosana Dalumpines, another Ched scholarship coordinator, have assisted Fabian in the distribution of the checks to the beneficiary-students.

Fabian has two scholarship programs and this are the Congressman Erbie Fabian Scholarship Grant and the Erbie Apolinario Fabians Scholars, which all fall under the Ched Special Study Grant Program for congressional districts, Rubares said.

Fabian's scholarship programs have 180 beneficiary-students who are enrolled in different courses that include education, maritime, nursing, social work, agriculture and hotel and restaurant management, she said.

The beneficiaries are studying in the different learning institutions like the Western Mindanao State University, Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology, Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College, Universidad de Zamboanga, Zamboanga Brent Colleges and Hospital, and Pilar College.

The scholarship assistance starts from first year until the student will graduate from college.

Meanwhile, Fabian has assisted at least 3,240 students through his scholarship programs since he was elected to the House of Representatives.

Fabian is now on his last term of office. (Sunnex)
