Hospital to acquire MRI scan machine

THE government-owned Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) will soon have a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan machine following the recently signed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Wednesday.
An MRI scan machine is a medical imaging technique used in radiology to visualize internal structures of the body in detail.
Mayor Celso Lobregat that under the MOA, the City Government will provide the funds needed for the purchase of the MRI scan machine while the ZCMC will handle its operation. Lobregat said the City Government has allocated the amount of P70 million for the project.
The funding was coursed through the Department of Health (DOH) regional office since the agency will be the one to bid out the project for the ZCMC.
In return, the ZCMC will grant 20-percent discount not only to the senior citizens but also to all residents who will avail of the service of the MRI scan machine, Lobregat said.
ZCMC Director Dr. Romeo Ong said the service being rendered by the hospital will be improved with the acquisition of the MRI scan machine.
The MOA was signed by Lobregat and Ong and was witnessed by other local government and DOH officials. (Bong Garcia)
