Ex-con arrested for rape

AN EX-CONVICT who allegedly raped his step-daughter was arrested in a west coast village in Zamboanga City, a police official reported Saturday.
Police Station 9 Chief Edilberto Alvarez identified the suspect as Augusto Villanueva, 52, a resident of Ayala village, 16 kilometers west of Zamboanga City.
Alvarez said Villanueva was arrested around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday in the village of Ayala following complaint filed against him by the 13-year-old victim’s mother.
The mother told the police that the suspect took her daughter to a shanty and rape her while she was busy attending to their store’s customers.
Immediately, a follow-up was made that resulted to the arrest of the suspect, Alvarez said. (Bong Garcia/Sunnex)
