THE police scored anew in the election gun ban campaign as they arrested another violator in Zamboanga City.
Senior Superintendent Edwin de Ocampo, Zamboanga City police officer-in-charge, said the latest to be arrested is Richard Abregana, 36, of Davao City who is overseeing a construction work along Veterans Avenue in Zamboanga City.
De Ocampo said Abregana was nabbed Sunday morning at a checkpoint along Veterans Avenue by the Zamboanga City Public Safety Company (ZCPSC) personnel headed Superintendent Willam Gadayan.
Abregana is the fourth violator to be arrested in the city since the election gun ban took effect nationwide last January 13. Confiscated from him was a caliber .38 revolver with five rounds of ammunition.
Abregana failed to show pertinent documents authorizing him to possess firearm as well as gun ban exemption from the Commission on Elections (Comelec), said De Ocampo.
The election gun ban, which is aimed to eliminate election-related violence, will remain in effect until June 13 this year. (Bong Garcia)
