A THOROUGH probe is underway to unmask the perpetrators behind the killing of two people, including a security escort of Tuburan Municipal Mayor Jabi Kallahal.
The investigation came after the police established the identities of the victims five days after they were found dead in a mangrove area in the village of Talon-Talon, five kilometers east of Zamboanga City.
Chief Inspector Elmer Acuña, Police Station 6 commander, identified the victims as Mohammad Nhur Buddiman, 26, and Ammie Amara, 30 -- both of Tuburan, Basilan province.
Buddiman is one of the security escorts of Kallahal, said Acuña.
The victims’ identities were established Tuesday after relatives claimed the remains of the victims in a funeral parlor.
The victims were found dead with bullet wounds in the head and hands hogtied on Thursday of last week at the mangrove area in Barangay Talon-Talon, Acuña said.
Further investigation showed the victims came to Zamboanga City and temporarily stayed in the village of Sta. Maria, where they were allegedly seized by a group of unidentified men.
Zamboanga City Police Office officer-in-charge Edwin de Ocampo ordered Acuña and Police Stations 7 commander Larry Domingo to conduct a joint probe to unmask the suspects behind the killing of the two victims.
Senior Superintendent De Ocampo also ordered them to look into all possible motives of the incident to hasten the conduct of the investigation.
