Tourism summit held in Zamboanga City

SIXTY-TWO private sector representatives have attended the one-day Tourism Stakeholders Summit held in Zamboanga City, according to tourism officials.
DOT Regional Director Mary June Bugante said the summit, which was held last week, was aimed to come up with a concerted effort between the Department of Tourism (DOT) and concerned stakeholders in making Zamboanga City and Zamboanga region as premier tourist destination.
Bugante said that tourism is everybody’s business the reason why all concerned stakeholders should be involved or should work hand-in-hand to boost the tourism industry in the region.
Those who attended the one-day tourism summit include representatives from travel agencies, hotels, restaurants and schools, Bugante said.
She said they have tackled current tourism trends that serve as useful information for the stakeholders to improve the quality of their services.
Mary Ann Montemayor, vice president for Mindanao Tourism Congress, said Zamboanga Peninsula is important, since it is an integral part of tourism in Mindanao.
Meanwhile, Bugante said her office will be conducting more projects in the coming months that will address concerns and further promote and develop Zamboanga Peninsula as a premier tourist destination.
