A VILLAGE official was killed while another was wounded on two gun attacks on Monday night in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, a police official reported Wednesday.
Zamboanga Peninsula police spokesman Ariel Huesca identified the victims as Noli Andrino, 48, who died on the spot, and Rodrigo Guilingan, 44, who was wounded and hospitalized.
Chief Inspector Huesca said Andrino was a councilman in the village of Bagalupa, Labangan town, while Guiligan is a councilman of Cogonan village, located in the same municipality.
Police investigation showed that Andrino was driving his motorcycle on the way home when he was shot dead by one of two unidentified men riding tandem on another motorcycle around 6:20 p.m. Monday at Purok 3, Tulangan village, Pagadian City; while Guilingan was walking home from the village hall when a lone unidentified gunman shot him around 7 p.m. Monday at Sitio Glab, Cogonan village.
Huesca said case investigators are inclined to believe that the two incidents are related since it happened just minutes apart.
Police investigation continues to unmask the suspects.
