A POLICEMAN escaped unscathed in a gun attack and his attacker was arrested in downtown Molave, Zamboanga del Sur, a top police official reported Wednesday.
The incident took place around 4:30 p.m. of Tuesday at the Integrated Bus and Jeep Terminal (IBJT) compound in downtown Molave, according to Zamboanga Peninsula police spokesman Ariel Huesca.
Huesca identified the would-be victim as Senior Police Officer 1 (SPO1) Pascual Abear, who is assigned with the First Platoon of the Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC).
Huesca identified Abear’s attacker as Danilo Nacua, a farmer and a resident of Tabid village, Ozamis City.
Investigation showed that Abear was about to embarked an inter-provincial passenger bus when Nacua suddenly appeared and fired his gun five times, he said.
Nacua missed his target as Abear managed to immediately duck for cover, prompting the suspect to run toward the back portion of IBJT, he said.
Nacua was nabbed by the responding policemen and a caliber .45 pistol was confiscated from his possession, Abear added. (Bong Garcia)
