THE police have rescued a 15-year-old girl and arrested the alleged abductor in the municipality of Molave, Zamboanga del Sur, a police official said Wednesday.
Molave police station commander Superintendent Christine Tan identified the rescued girl as Marfe Bergado of Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte.
The suspect was identified as Fedi Sinangote, 30, a singer by occupation and a resident of Lanipao, Lanao del Norte. He was nabbed when police rescued the girl around 6:30 p.m. of Sunday along Rizal Avenue, Molave municipality.
Tan said she formed a team to launch the rescue operations after Evelyn Mahusay, a nurse and a relative of the victim, filed a complaint against Sinangote.
Mahusay reported that Bergado has been missing for the past two weeks already and they received information that she is in the custody of the suspect in Molave town, Tan said.
The rescue team swooped down Rizal Avenue in downtown Molave and successfully rescued the young girl and arrested the suspect, she added. (Bong Garcia)
