THE Philippine Red Cross (PRC) is conducting a five-day lifeguard training course in Zamboanga City to equip lifeguards with the proper knowledge in relation to their job, a top PRC official announced.
PRC-Zamboanga City Chapter Administrator Victor Liozo Jr. said they come up with the training since they learned that not all lifeguards employed by owners of pools and beaches have undergone or passed training.
There are some beaches with three of more lifeguards but only one or two were trained, Liozo added.
The participants will be taught on water safety, the role of lifeguards, basic life support and others.
Aside from lifeguards, Liozo said they will also accommodate high school graduate who are interested to undergo training.
The training will start Monday and ends on Friday. (Bong Garcia)
