Water firm builds station to improve service

THE thousands of concessionaires of the Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) will soon have 24-hour service of water after the ZCWD completed the construction of a booster station in Talon-Talon to increase the water pressure in the areas.
Aside from Talon-Talon, the concessionaires that would benefit from the P14.4-million project include the residents of Mampang and Arena Blanco villages, said ZCWD information officer Dolores Galvan.
“The three barangays will now have water for 24 hours seven days a week with the booster station in place,” Galvan said.
For the past several years already, the ZCWD concessionaires in the three villages have to wake up at dawn to fill up their containers in order to have water for cooking, laundry and bath the next day since there is no water at day time.
Galvan said the booster station will be inaugurated and place into operation on Monday, March 18.
The project includes the booster station’s concrete sump tank, pipe-laying works, prime generating sets, electro-mechanical equipment, and electrical works, Galvan said.
The construction of the booster station started in April 2012 and was completed last February 28, she added. (Bong Garcia)
