Accidental firing injures cop, passerby

A POLICEMAN and a passerby were wounded when the policeman’s service firearm accidentally went off in the village of Talon-Talon, Zamboanga City, the police reported Friday.
The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) reported that the incident happened around 11:26 a.m. Thursday.
Wounded were Police Officer 2 (PO2) Moamar Pangilan and Georgina Jacinto. Both were brought to a hospital for treatment, the police said.
Investigation showed that Pangilan was aboard a tricycle on the way to report for duty when his issued caliber .45 pistol, which was placed in a low carry holster accidentally went off, the police said.
Pangilan was hit on his right leg while Jacinto was hit when the bullet ricocheted after hitting the tricycle’s signal light, the police said. (Bong Garcia)
