THE Philippine Red Cross (PRC)-Zamboanga City chapter has received an award as it was adjudged as one of the three best performing chapters in the country.
PRC-Zamboanga City chapter Administrator Victor Liozo Jr. said the award was based on fund generation and management of the chapter.
Liozo said the awarding of plaque was held Monday during the "2013 Fund Campaign Kick-Off" in Makati City.
The other two awardees are the PRC-chapters of Quezon City and Laguna, Liozo said.
PRC Chairman Richard Gordon and PRC Secretary-General Gwendolyn Pang spearheaded the awarding ceremonies.
The 2013 Fund Campaign is part of the humanitarian agency's strategic direction 2012-2016 that aims to take every opportunity in making a lasting difference in the lives of the Filipino people by increasing its efforts to mitigate the impact of disasters, economic crises, and unhealthy lifestyles and provide additional social protection and psychosocial interventions to victims of armed conflicts, displacement and other situations of violence.
Liozo said he attributed the award to the support given to him by Mayor Celso Lobregat, who is the PRC governor, Board of Directors, the staffs and volunteers of the PRC-Zamboanga City chapter.
He also lauded the City Government for allocating P1.8 million yearly as assistance for the operation of the local chapter's blood bank. (Bong Garcia)
