MAYOR Celso Lobregat led government officials in the unveiling and turnover rites Friday of the P4.2-million garments building to the Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College (ZCSPC) in this southern port city.
Lobregat said the construction of the building is one of the three latest infrastructure projects the local government is implementing at the campus of ZCSPC in the village of Baliwasan.
The other projects that are ongoing at the ZCSPC are the P24 million multi-purpose building and the P6.1 million two-storey six-classroom building for the school’s College of Engineering, Lobregat said.
He said the projects at ZCSPC form part of the City Government’s investment in education from 2007 to 2012 that has reached P1.3 billion.
The projects are concentrated in public elementary and secondary schools, he said.
However, he said institutions of higher education in the city like the ZCSPC, Zamboanga State College of Marines Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) and Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) are also recipients of the financial assistance and support from the local government.
The ZSCMST is a recipient of a 17-door apartment type dormitory complex worth P9.33 million.
The WMSU, on the other hand, has an ongoing P25 million dormitory project, which had its groundbreaking last month.
All of these projects are aimed to improve the quality of education in this southern port city, Lobrgat added. (Bong Garcia)
