More smuggled rice confiscated-A A +A

THE police have confiscated another shipment of smuggled rice on Thursday at the village of Sinunuc, Zamboanga City.
Zamboanga City police officer-in-charge Senior Superintendent Jose Chiquito Malayo said 10 truck-loads of rice worth more than P2 million were seized after its owner failed to show documents of the cargo.
Malayo said the rice shipment consisting of 2,943 sacks of rice of 25 kilos each came from Jolo, Sulu.
The rice was confiscated by the Zamboanga City Public Safety Company personnel and was turned over to the Bureau of Customs (BOC) for proper disposal.
Navy and Coast Guard personnel earlier confiscated some 3,000 sacks of rice of 25 kilos each, in Sta. Cruz Island.
The shipment, which was estimated to be worth P3 million, also came from Jolo, Sulu. (Bong Garcia)
